South Africa has been favored by nature with one of the most temperate climates on the African continent, and can be visited comfortably any time. Winter runs from June to September and is cooler and drier, and ideal for hiking and outdoor pursuits. Because vegetation is less dense, and thirsty animals congregate around water sources, winter is also the best time for wildlife-watching. The summer runs from late November to March and brings rain, mists and some uncomfortably hot days
The country’s main international airports are in Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban. South African Airways is the main domestic carrier and there are plenty of daily flights to most destinations including Port Elizabeth.
