Holidays in Australia

With endless sun-baked beaches and horizons and dense tropical rainforests, Australia’s biggest attraction is its natural beauty. Made up of eight states and territories, each offers you a completely different holiday experience. Australia is blessed with beautiful beaches and even the Aussies love to enjoy them.  You will have plenty of chances to see and admire Australia’s native animals in the wild from whales and dolphins to kangaroos and emus. Deciding where to go can be difficult as it is impossible to see everything in one trip but wherever you decide to go you will have a wonderful time.

Sights and places to see on Holidays in Australia

There is no place in the world quite like Sydney in New South Wales. It is a cosmopolitan city with a very laidback life style and is one of the world’s favourite city holiday destinations. Surrounded by beautiful beaches and the most famous is of course is Bondi.  Backpackers, millionaires and locals alike rub shoulders whilst soaking up the sun or surfing in this amazing carefree environment. Sydney’s harbour is home to its most photographed and famous building - the Sydney Opera House and also Sydney Harbour Bridge. There are also museums, shops and restaurants a plenty to suit any palette. Coffs Harbour is packed with family-friendly attractions and beaches. The hillsides that surround the town are filled with banana palms and is one of the most photographed back drops in the country.

Queensland is considered as the sun-shine state of Australia and its capital is Cairns. Cairns is the gateway to one of the most natural world wonders - the Great Barrier Reef. There are plenty of boat tour guides to choose from and all offer to hire the equipment for diving and/or snorkelling. Port Douglas is in the Tropical North of Queensland about 45 minutes from Cairns and is one of the state’s premier holiday destinations. Brisbane is a city filled with optimism and a fresh approach to life. You will be amazed by the attractions on offer here and pleasantly surprised by the open and friendly attitude. North of Brisbane is the Sunshine Coast; the beauty of this region will captivate you with its lush countryside and generous beaches. Maleny is a small scenic town that overlooks the Sunshine Coast that enjoys its sub-tropical climate.

Western Australia offers endless days of sunshine, adventures and some amazing natural environments. Perth is this regions capital and has all the ingredients for a great holiday. You fill find some of the country’s best beaches and nightlife here and also some amazing marine adventures.

Flight, travel and weather information in and around Australia

All of Australia’s main cities have international and domestic airports and many smaller domestic airports and airstrips. Flying is the best way to get around as the country is so large although travelling by bus or car will be more scenic. It is easy to travel by car here (they also drive on the left-hand side) and there are plenty of hire car options. You could even collect your car in Cairns and drop it off in Sydney (and countless other destinations) allowing you to see all the sights but not have to retrace your steps. Greyhound Australia buses are comfortable and have several long-distance trips.

Anytime is a good time to visit Australia although the summers (December to February) can get quite uncomfortable in the cities. The winters (June to August) are much cooler.

Eastern Standard time is GMT +10, Central time is GMT +9.5 and Western time is GMT +8, the local currency is Australian Dollar (AUD) and the country dialling code is (00 or +) 61
