The Bahamas is popular with all holiday-makers looking to explore some of its 700 islands, each of which has its own personality. Blessed with some of the clearest waters in the world, these islands include some uninhabited cays and the longest, whitest beaches you may ever see.

Nassau is the capital and is on the island of New Providence, the other main islands are Grand Bahama,  Abaco  great for scuba & sailing, Bimini, the Berry Islands, Andros, Eleuther & Exumas.

Sights and places to see in the Bahamas

Cosmopolitan Nassau is fun to spend some time in visiting the duty-free shops, golf courses, museums and restaurants. Known throughout the world for their natural beauty the Bahamas offer a warm welcome. You can also experience the dive of a lifetime in some challenging wreck sites or witness the spectacle of the exotic wildlife including the nesting flamingos. Bahamas is also a tax free haven.

Green Turtle Cay is one of the Abacos most important destinations. Take a water taxi from Treasure Cay to the main town of New Plymouth. In addition to sailing, fishing and diving are also popular activities here. Deep-sea fishing generally takes place off the Abaco cays and deep walls, reefs and a multitude of shipwrecks provide excellent diving territory right around the Abaco cays.

Weather, flight and travel information in and around the Bahamas

The islands of the Bahamas are a year-round holiday destination although the more southerly islands can get very hot in July and August. The peak season is typical of the Caribbean and runs from mid-December to mid-April especially around the Easter and Christmas weeks and the rainy season runs from May to November, when there is a small possibility of hurricanes.

British Airways offers a direct flight to Nassau or Freeport, there are actually 6 international airports in total which gives you plenty of choices if you don’t mind travelling via the USA. Car hire is the best way to get around although there are some bus services on some of the islands, these however can be expensive.
