Tenerife is the largest island of the archipelago and a seaside offering as well beautiful steep coasts and wide beaches of fine sand. Santa Cruz de Tenerife is a very friendly town and one of the first things to capture your attention will be its beautiful parks and its lively streets. Santa Cruz beaches; Close to Santa Cruz there are the beaches Las Gaviotas and Las Teresitas, and a nice destination for an excursion might be the mountain Monte de la Esperanza, located at 20 kilometres from the town, offering an outstanding view over the entire island.

Beaches; The beaches in Tenerife are spectacular! The sand is soft and clean with some beaches made up of black sand and others have golden. Playa de las Americas is located at the southeast of the island and offers fabulous beaches as well as the most modern infrastructure for tourism. Playa de los Cristianos has fine beaches of golden sand and crystalline water and is close to a picturesque fishing-village. Its outstanding infrastructure makes it one of the most attractive places for visitors. Playa de las Caletillas is another centre of international tourism, three marvellous small bays close to Candelaria.

Activities; The Canary Islands, and in specific, Tenerife are an ideal setting for a multitude of sports. Enjoy excellent deep-sea fishing, diving, or just swimming.

Diving; Diving in Tenerife takes you on a journey into the depths of the underworld. The underwater volcanic rock formations and pinnacles abound with plankton and therefore diversified marine life.

Hiking; Hiking in Tenerife, head for the El Tiede's National Park. There are about 21 marked trails of varying degree of difficulty. Or, head for the Valley of La Orotava, another perfect area with terrific areas to explore and unbelievable views to reward your efforts.

Golf; Golf in Tenerife where the excellent climate ensures that you can play and improve your golf everyday of the year and at any level. This golf friendly island is rapidly becoming the migration point for golfers from all over the world between the months of October and May.

Surfing & windsurfing - Surfing & windsurfing in Ternerife at the famous beach El Medano, to the east is ideal for practicing this sport. Although windy, it is not too choppy, making it an excellent all year windsurfing competition site.
