The Czech Republic is a country of fairytale castles, forests, medieval towns and Renaissance chateaux. There is a rich heritage to explore with the added bonus of the world’s finest beer to keep you refreshed.
Magical, golden, mystical Prague, the heart of Europe is one of the most beautiful and cultured cities in the world. All the main sites are in the city centre and can easily be reached by foot. You can take in the castle (the largest in Europe that contains more than seven hundred rooms and historic walking areas), Charles Bridge (connects the Old town with Lesser Town, this popular pedestrian bridge is filled with musicians, painters, vendors and tourists during the summertime) and the Staromestske nam (or Old Town Square - located in the centre of historic Prague, this lively square is surrounded by baroque buildings, vibrant cafes, street entertainers and craftspeople) in a day. Prague offers rich cultural life - many various interesting museums, large and small galleries, theatres and concert halls.
Prague is something of a cultural Mecca and there has always been a lively tradition here (Mozart was celebrated as a hero in Prague while shunned in Vienna), and the influx of culture-hungry tourists in the past decade has led to an enormous variety of concerts and going to the theatre or opera is still something of an event in Prague, and it’s courteous to dress up when visiting.
