Split is the largest coastal city in Croatia. The city is situated on the shores of the Mediterranean, more specifically the eastern Adriatic Sea and is also one of the oldest cities in the area.

Split is a great point for exploration of the coast and islands of the beautiful Croatian Adriatic. Many of Split's historical and cultural buildings can be found within the walls of Diocletian's Palace. In addition, numerous museums, the National Theatre, and old churches and other archaeological sites in the Split region make it an important cultural attraction.
Sights and places to see in Split
The western end of town is a vast, wooded mountain park with beaches below and pathways above. A refurbished harbor promenade is lined with cafés and therefore makes for a pleasant stroll.
Trogir is only 3km from Split airport; it is also easy to arrive via Zagreb. Located in an area that enjoys a mild Mediterranean climate it is a real treasure tourist destination in Croatia. Tourism is the largest industry in Trogir region and everywhere you go you will meet very friendly and charming people.
Okrug Gornji is located on the western side of the island Ciovo. Divided into Okrug Gornji and Okrug Donji, two traditional Dalmatian villages, it has become one of the most attractive tourist destinations. There are a lot of restaurants and taverns with a rich choice of original Dalmatian specialities. There are diving schools that give you the opportunity to discover the beauties of the Adriatic Sea.
Kvarner Bay is located in the north Adriatic Sea, between the northern Croatian coast and the Istrian coastline and is also known as the Kvarner Gulf. Kvarner Bay's main islands are: Losinj Island, Rab Island, Pag Island, Cres Island and Krk Island. Kvarner Bay also has a warm Mediterranean climate with hot summers and mild winters.
Weather, flight and travel information in and around Croatia
Most people visit Croatia between April and September. May and June are great months for all outdoor activities (except skiing). July and August are the most popular months to visit as the tourist season swings into gear. September is also a nice month to visit since it’s not as hot as summer, although still warm, and there are less the crowds.
The major airports in the country are at Dubrovnik, Pula, Rijeka, Split, Zadar and Zagreb.
Bus services are excellent and relatively inexpensive. Any valid driving license is sufficient to legally drive and rent a car; an international driving license is not necessary.
