West Ireland holiday cottages
Holidays in Ireland & holiday cottages in Ireland
The West of Ireland is home to Ireland's largest Irish-speaking community. It is perhaps Ireland's most varied region. Visitors will appreciate the diverse range of things to do and see which include many of Ireland's most popular attractions.
Among these are: the Cliffs of Moher, The Aran Islands, Connemara National Park, the Burren, and Galway City.
Galway, with its cobbled streets, ramshackle shop fronts and great restaurants can attract visitors from as far as Dublin for its weekend nightlife and the various festivals draw in the international crowd.
The windswept and dark Aran Islands seem to exist from another time. Ancient forts look out over the seas and in addition to the stunning scenery the islands have some of the country’s oldest Christian and pre-Christian churches.
The Northwest corner of County Galway is the very wild and barren region known as Connemara. It is a stunning patchwork of bogs, lonely valleys, mountains and lakes.
