Sicily holiday villas
Holidays in Italy & holiday villas in Italy
The landscape is varied. In the eastern part of the island stands the volcano Mount Etna (3.330m), Sicily's highest mountain and a protected national park. Still active, it is the biggest volcano in Europe. A highlight is hiking up the Stromboli at night and witness the treacle-like lava oozing down the north-western flank that creates special effects for more exciting than anything Hollywood could conjure up. Mondello Lido is where the citizens of Palermo flock on summer days to escape the stifling heat of the capital city. Mortelle has the best sands in northeast, which is where the locals themselves go to escape the scalding heat in their capital.
Snorkelling & diving in Sicily; some of the best snorkelling and diving are found in the regions of Calabria, Campania and Sicily due to the volcanic geology making rich marine life.
Hiking & walking in Sicily; there are a number of parks that are improving their infrastructure and provide a number of wonderful walks.
