Ko Samui, this island has long been the island of choice for all paradise-seeking party people. Its turquoise waters and sun-bleached sandy bays are lined with a plethora of restaurants and thumping nightlife.
The beaches are beautiful and naturally the main attraction, Chaweng is a long beach at 6km and famous for it’s crystal-clear waters making it the most popular of the island. Lamai’s waters are much calmer due to an off shore coral reef and Bo Phut has the best sunset views.
There are plenty of interesting sites to visit such as the scenic waterfalls in the centre of the island – Hin Lat and Na Muang, the Big Budda Temple Wat Phra Yai at the northeastern end of the island. The monks are pleased to receive visitors but proper attire should be worn (i.e. no shorts or sleeveless tops). Also there are several guide companies that offer kayak trips to Ang Thong National Marine Park.
There is an airport on the island where you can fly direct from Bangkok and there are about 20-flights per day. You can also arrive by ferry to and from various destinations and transport around the island is easy and affordable.
