Air Europa ditches Airbus for Dreamliner.
Spanish airline Air Europa has ordered eight Boeing 787-8 Dreamliners, and has switched its allegiance from Airbus to Boeing.
In 2004 Air Europa was the first customer to place an order for the Airbus A350, a rival model to the Dreamliner. But now the airline based in Palma de Mallorca has decided to buy eight Dreamliners with a list price of $1.3 billion and has rights to buy a further eight.
Low cost airline launches carbon offsetting.
Low cost airline Atlas Blue is introducing a carbon offsetting programme so environmentally conscious passengers can pay to offset their emissions.
Atlas Blue, which offers flights from Gatwick to Marrakech in Morocco, is the first airline in Africa and the second in Europe to offer carbon offsetting to passengers as part of its booking platform.
Tenerife tops winter sun hot spots.
In the busy winter and summer holiday booking period, Cheapflights.co.uk has revealed that Tenerife is the most searched for winter sun destination this year.
The Canary Islands is well represented in the list of the most popular winter sun destinations as compiled by Cheapflights. Lanzarote is number 5 in the top 10 list while Gran Canaria comes in at number 8. The only other medium haul destination in the top 10 is the popular Red Sea winter sun and diving resort of Sharm el Sheikh at number 10.
