BA announces Gatwick to St Kitts flights

British Airways is to begin new flights to the Caribbean island of St Kitts and Nevis this winter.

Weekly flights from Gatwick to St Kitts will start on Saturday January 10th. The new flights confirm BA’s position as the UK airline with the most flights to the Caribbean.

Wizz Air to launch first low cost flights to Ukraine

Low cost airline Wizz Air is set to launch what it says will be the first low cost flights between the UK and Ukraine.

Flights from Luton airport to Kiev Boryspil airport will start on December 17th with one way all-inclusive fares from £29 (plus £40 air passenger duty on the Luton to Kiev leg). Initially flights will operate four times a week, but then go daily from March 28th next year.

New Stansted to Istanbul flights launched

As Turkey becomes an increasingly popular holiday destination for Brits, Pegasus Airlines is launching another flight to Istanbul.

The new flight from Stansted airport to Istanbul and Ercan in Northern Cyprus on Fridays will be Pegasus’ fifth on this route. Flights will depart Stansted at 13.15 and arrive in Istanbul at 18.50. Return flights leave at 10.40 and arrive at Stansted at 12.25. Fares start from £40 one way including taxes and charges.

Low cost transatlantic flights on horizon

Air fares to the USA could be set to tumble if Ryanair goes ahead with plans to launch a new transatlantic airline.

Low cost transatlantic airlines have had a troubled history. One only needs to think of Freddie Laker, and much more recently Zoom, which went bust in August. But Ryanair’s size and financial resources suggest that it could have a much better crack at operating a successful no frills transatlantic airline.

New flights to Croatia and Rhodes from Jet2

Low cost airline Jet2.com has announced new summer holiday flights for 2009 to Croatia, Rhodes and Newquay.

Flights to Newquay, the popular surfing resort in Cornwall, will be operated from both Leeds Bradford airport and Belfast airport. Flights begin on May 24th with fares starting from £24.99 one way including taxes.

As well as being the surfing capital of the UK, Newquay is also popular for stag and hen parties and for family holidays. With its excellent beaches and plentiful selection of bars, restaurants and nightclubs, Newquay is an excellent base for exploring the rest of Cornwall.
